Families Giving Back Volunteers “Packed It Up” and Assembled 1,400 School-Ready Backpacks at Southwest Human Development
On Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, Families Giving Back, a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring and helping families with kids of all ages volunteer together, hosted a volunteer event to provide supplies and assemble backpacks with back-to-school items for the children in the Southwest Human Development pre-school Head Start and Early Head Start program. Southwest Human Development is Arizona’s largest nonprofit dedicated to early childhood development.
The backpack assembly event had more than 80 volunteers that assembled 1,400 bags and provided children in the program with the school supplies they need to help give them a head start to succeed in school.
“This volunteer event is a rewarding way for children to work together and help other children as they head back to school,” said Lisa Geyser, co-founder and vice-president at Families Giving Back. “Being able to support Southwest Human Development shows how valuable it is to our community to have families volunteering to make a difference.”
