Families Giving Back Creates Family Volunteer Event To Benefit The Cactus Little League

Families Giving Back, a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring and helping families with kids of all ages volunteer together, is partnering with Scottsdale Batting Cages and Chad Moeller Baseball to give back to the Cactus Little League. The Cactus Little League is comprised of 38 teams of participants, between the ages of 4 – 14, the majority of which live below poverty level. On Sunday, April 12, this family volunteer event will take place from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. at Maryvue Park, 5625 W. Osborn Road.

“Baseball has given kids in the league a productive, safe way to spend their free time after school and on the weekends,” said Chad Moeller, owner/operator of Scottsdale Batting Cages. “The league relies heavily on donations of equipment to be able to provide these children the opportunity to play regardless of financial ability.”

The day will consist of volunteer families bringing donations of new and gently used baseball equipment to the event. Also, the young volunteers and children in the Cactus League will have the opportunity to participate in a free baseball clinic run by 11-year MLB veteran catcher, Chad Moeller and MLB alumni pitcher John Webb.  Volunteers who are not interested in the clinic can help sort, organize and package the baseball equipment donations to be distributed to the Cactus League teams. Volunteers can also help decorate the boxes with artwork, stickers and well wishes for the Cactus League recipients.

“Families Giving Back is excited to bring our volunteer families together to provide this opportunity and donations to Cactus Little League.  Every child should have the opportunity to participate in America’s favorite pastime,” said Karen Conway, board member at Families Giving Back. “We are just proud to let our young volunteers do their part in putting smiles on other kids’ faces.”
