Families Giving Back “Brightened the Days” of Patients at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital
Families Giving Back, a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring and helping families with kids of all ages volunteer together, hosted a volunteer event to assemble art project bags for patients and flowers for their moms at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Melvin L. Cohen Conference Center, Rosenberg Children’s Medical Plaza,. The event took place on Saturday, May 9, 2015 with more than 185 people volunteering throughout the day.
More than 500 activity books and 500 art project bags were assembled as well as 2,000 glue syringes, 250 flowers and many posters were created for activities. Families Giving Back provided all of the supplies needed for the items assembled and created.
“This volunteer event is such a fun and rewarding way to give back and help bring smiles to the patients at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital,” said Alexandra Sklar, co-founder and president at Families Giving Back. “It’s actually a rare opportunity because Families Giving Back is the only community organization that has been allowed to bring community volunteers under the age of 16 to volunteer for Phoenix Children’s.”
