Chandler’s Price Corridor Wins Best of Arizona EDDE Award

(CHANDLER, Ariz. – Oct. 29, 2020) – The Price Corridor in Chandler has been named winner of the Arizona Association for Economic Development’s (AAED) Economic Development Distinguished by Excellence (EDDE) Best of Arizona Award, presented by the Greater Phoenix Economic Council.

The prestigious EDDE Awards honor individuals and companies that have made significant contributions to the advancement of the organization and to economic growth within the state of Arizona.  Recipients were selected from a pool of nominations made by members of AAED.

The City of Chandler Economic Development Division noted the Price Corridor’s unprecedented growth over the past three years, including the creation of 9,700 jobs, capital investment of more than $7 billion and four million square-feet of occupied office and industrial space.

Among the major development projects along the corridor are:

  • Chandler Freeway Crossing – a 40-acre business park with four Class A office buildings totaling more than 425,000 square-feet of space, with an additional 150,000 square foot building planned.
  • The Offices at Chandler Viridian – a six-story, 240,000 square foot building that is part of a 25-acre, mixed use development project, integrating office, hospitality and retail uses.
  • Park Place – a 170-acre project from the Douglas Allred Company that straddles both sides of Price Road. At build-out, Park Place will offer more than 2.3 million rentable square-feet in a business park setting.
  • Intel’s Fab 42 Plant – an investment of $7 billion to complete the 2.4 million square foot Fab 42 facility will make it the world’s most advanced semiconductor factory when it opens.

The Price Corridor is home to some of the most recognizable names in the business world, including 15 companies on the 2019 Fortune 1000 list.  In total, there are more than 550 businesses in the corridor and more than 40,000 jobs, representing 35 percent of all jobs in Chandler.  The top five employers in the corridor are:

  1. Intel – 5,500 employees
  2. Wells Fargo – 5,500 employees
  3. Bank of America – 3,600 employees
  4. Northrop Grumman – 2,150 employees
  5. Pay Pal – 1,700 employees

Overall, 10 EDDEs were presented during a virtual awards ceremony at the AAED Fall Forum.  The other winners are:

  • Greg Tilque, CEcD, the William Lampkin Award for Long-Term Excellence in Economic Development, presented by the Greater Phoenix Economic Council.
  • Karla Moran, AZED Pro, economic development analyst, Salt River Project, Member of the Year, presented by Pat Davis Design Group, Inc.
  • Jennifer Graves, CEcD, deputy director, Gilbert Office of Economic Development, Economic Developer of the Year, Large Community, presented by Sigma Contracting.
  • Tami Ursenbach, economic development director for Mohave County, Economic Developer of the Year, Medium Community, presented by Concord General Contracting.
  • Tom Doyle, economic development manager for the City of El Mirage, Economic Developer of the Year, Small Community, presented by Speedie & Associates, Inc.
  • Aaron Moon, business development coordinator, ARIZONA@WORK Pinal County, Workforce Practitioner of the Year, presented by Newbridge Technology Solutions.
  • Crystal Pierce, business development representative, CCS Presentation Systems, New Member of the Year, presented by CCS Presentation Systems.
  • Pinal County, Large Organization of the Year, presented by the Salt River Project.
  • Town of Queen Creek, Medium Organization of the Year, presented by the Arizona Regional Economic Development Foundation.
