Cavco – Lafayette Employees Achieve First-Time Home Ownership Through “Homes for Our Own” Program
(LAFAYETTE, Tenn–July 28, 2025) Cavco – Lafayette, a Cavco Industries manufactured housing facility, announces that Paula and Scottie Chapman have purchased their first home through Homes for Our Own (HFOO), Cavco’s employee assistance program centered around first-time home ownership. The Chapmans are among a growing number of Cavco employees whose paths to homeownership have been made possible through Cavco’s HFOO initiative.
Cavco is dedicated to addressing the affordable housing crisis in the U.S. by making homeownership accessible—not only for its customers but for its employees as well. Cavco’s mission is to empower individuals and families to buy and protect homes affordably, creating lasting value and stability in the communities Cavco serves.
Homes For Our Own was created for employees by Bill Boor, Cavco’s CEO, to provide qualifying company employees with financial literacy and the opportunity to make first-time homeownership a reality. Financial assistance is funded by voluntary employee donations that are matched by the company.
According to Dana Wilson, general manager, HFOO participants take classes on budgeting, understanding property taxes, managing credit, reducing debt and achieving long-term financial wellness.
“For team members like Paula and Scottie Chapman, the HFOO program has been more than a company benefit—it’s been a life-changing opportunity to own their own home.
“I really appreciate the HFOO program and the opportunities it gives our team. We’ve had three recipients from the Lafayette facility, and Scottie and Paula were the first to have us build their home. We help build dream homes every day, but when it’s for one of our own, it’s something special.”
Earlier this summer, the Chapmans watched their new Cavco Escape double-section manufactured home—one they helped construct with their own hands and with the support of their team—roll off the production line at Cavco – Lafayette. The Cavco team held a dedication ceremony where employees signed a banner that read, “We build homes for our own.”
Paula Chapman, a Cavco Production Home Team Lead, and Scottie Chapman, a Production Home Assembler, have dedicated more than 30 combined years to building homes for others at the Cavco manufacturing plant. Now, with the support of HFOO, they’ve built a home for themselves.
“We are so grateful for the HFOO program and for the Cavco employees who helped make this possible for us,” said Scottie Chapman.
“Making the dream of homeownership for our customers is so fulfilling,” said Wilson. “And to have a program like HFOO available our employees furthers our commitment to making quality affordable housing available in our community.”
