Arizona Housing Fund Awards $850,000 in Grants for Affordable Housing Projects with Support from Arizona REALTORS®

(PHOENIX – Dec. 21, 2022) – The Arizona Association of REALTORS® is a proud supporter of the Arizona Housing Fund, a dedicated and sustainable funding source for nonprofit agencies that build and operate permanent supportive, low-income, and working poor housing units. The Arizona Housing Fund recently awarded $850k in grants to support multifamily housing which included a $2,500 project donation from the Arizona REALTORS®.

This vital support for the Arizona Housing Fund from the Arizona REALTORS® will ensure that more housing units are constructed that meet the growing needs of the community in Arizona and help contribute to the overall goal to reduce homelessness.

“The issue of homelessness impacts Arizona’s most vulnerable communities including families, the elderly and veterans–this must be addressed with the construction of permanent and affordable housing across the state,” says Michelle Lind, of counsel for the Arizona REALTORS®. “REALTORS help people find a place they can call home and the Arizona Housing Fund aligns perfectly with the mission of the Arizona REALTORS®. We are pleased to support and promote this initiative to help address homelessness in the Grand Canyon State.”

The awardees of the grant include:

  • Arizona Housing Inc., which was awarded $300,000 for a 50-unit housing project at 2900 E. Van Buren St. in Phoenix.
  • St. Vincent de Paul, which received $250,000 for a 100-bed comprehensive transitional community at Ozanam Manor in Phoenix for the vulnerable homeless population.
  • The Coalition for Compassion and Justice, which received $200,000 for 25 new housing units at Paloma Village in Chino Valley
  • Family Promise of Greater Phoenix, which was awarded $100,000 for individual family housing at Container Village in Glendale.

Lind is a member of the Arizona Housing Fund Advisory Committee which approved these AZHF grants.

In order to qualify for Arizona Housing Fund grants, eligible applicants must be a nonprofit affordable housing developer, owner or operator with at least five years of experience managing and operating sustainable supportive housing.

The Arizona REALTORS®, the largest trade association in Arizona representing over 55,000 members, also provides an opportunity for buyers and sellers to join in the fight against homelessness by donating to the cause. The goal of the Arizona REALTORS® is to give every buyer and seller the opportunity to voluntarily donate $25 or more to the Arizona Housing Fund at close of escrow to combat homelessness. The donation form takes 20 seconds to complete and once submitted to the escrow company, funds are distributed to the Arizona Housing Fund at close of escrow.
