Arizona Association for Economic Development Presents 2018 Golden Prospector Awards

(FLAGSTAFF, Ariz.- Nov. 13, 2018) -- The Arizona Association for Economic Development (AAED) has presented 12 Golden Prospector Awards recognizing excellence, innovation and creativity in economic development.

Gilbert’s Office of Economic Development and Sun Corridor Inc. each won two of the awards.

Gilbert was honored for its “What More Could You Want?” video and for its deal of the year, “Deloitte U.S. Delivery Center Attraction.”

Sun Corridor Inc. won for its “Site Selectors Guild Tucson Advisory Forum” special event and its deal of the year, “Hexagon Mining HQ Retention and Expansion.”

The town of Queen Creek earned top honors for its deal of the year, “Old Ellsworth Brewing Company.”

The city of Peoria’s “Economic Development Agreement Monitoring System,” East Valley Partnership’s “PHX East Valley Angel Investor Initiative,” and the city of Surprise’s “Business Retention & Expansion/Surprise Retail Survey/Program” were each honored for their top economic development programs/processes.

The Greater Phoenix Economic Council’s “The Connected Place” received a Golden Prospector Award in the marketing brochure category.

The city of Maricopa’s special event, “City of Maricopa 2018 Economic Summit was also honored.

Pinal County’s “Pinal County Marketing Video” and the city of Scottsdale’s “Downtown Business Spotlight Series and Gathering Events” were recognized in the multimedia promotion category.

The awards were presented at AAED’s Fall Forum in Flagstaff.

“The Golden Prospector Awards were established by AAED to encourage and recognize excellence in economic development,” said Joyce Grossman, AAED’s executive director.  “This year’s winners truly demonstrate how effective they are in their respective communities.”

AAED, founded in 1974, has a mission to serve as Arizona’s unified voice advocating for responsible economic development through an effective program of professional education, public policy, and collaboration.
