#MediaMonday – Jimena Martinez
It’s been five years since Jimena Martinez accepted a job as an associate producer for ABC15 Mornings, where she soon went on to become an Emmy-Award Winning producer. And now that she has become the new content planner for the morning show, she is really starting to find her groove.
With a love for both morning news as well as a good night’s sleep, Jimena has managed to strike a great balance in her new role, one she would like to tell us about.
So, Jimena, what do you want to tell the blogosphere about yourself today?
I have spent a majority of my journalism career working in the early-morning hours, trying to find multiple sources of caffeine, while everyone I know is sleeping. When I landed a job as an associate producer for ABC15 Mornings, I knew I had to pack my bags and leave California.
It’s been five years since I’ve been at ABC15. In that time, I’ve produced the 6 a.m. newscast and most recently, the 6 p.m. newscast. While I like a normal schedule like anyone else, there’s part of me that always misses working on the morning newscast. Last month, I was given the opportunity to have the best of both worlds.
As a content planner for the morning show, I work during the day, gathering content while our morning team sleeps. I’m looking for ways to expand on the big stories of the day, but I’m also looking for unique stories that highlight our state and the wonderful people who live here.
I’ve always felt a deep connection with Arizona even though I was born and raised in California. I graduated from California State University, Northridge with a degree in journalism. When I’m not at work, I’m exploring the state with my husband, stepson and our two Dachshunds.
