The restaurant previously known as IHOP, took the Internet by storm on Monday, June 11th when they announced on Twitter that they were now officially known as the International House of Burgers.
Does IHOb really want to completely lose their reputation as a breakfast restaurant? I don’t think so.
This marketing strategy is an attempt to boost their sales for lunch and dinner. It will definitely impact the equity the restaurant’s brand has had set in place for 60 years.
But perhaps there was a method to their madness and the marketing team behind this risky name change are actually geniuses. IHOb has completely taken over social media this week with the name drop and it got people talking about the restaurant. I will admit, IHOP was never my first choice for breakfast, but after this announcement, I’m definitely more interested in tasting what their burgers are all about.
Now the question is, will people still think about IHOP’s breakfast or will they want to go have dinner at IHOb?
I’m just going to sit back and watch as this unfolds.
