How to do Digital Communications like a Pro
Most of us spend more time than we would like to admit on social media, reading emails and browsing the web. Whether, you are reading an email from your favorite store, following the HMA blog or scrolling through your Twitter timeline – those are all forms of digital communications.
In simple terms, digital communications is a company or brand’s online communication efforts. Digital communication channels can be anything from social media, websites, blogs, email, chat and anything that you may use to communicate with your internal or external audience.
So, how do you make sure that your digital communication efforts are well received?
First, you should begin with a strategic plan. At HMA, we view your digital communication efforts as another tool or extension to your traditional communication efforts. Just because it is easy to fire off a couple of tweets sharing your thoughts, you still need to define the goals and objectives for your digital efforts, the tactics that will help you achieve those goals and track your progress to see when you may need to make some adjustments to your plan.
Next, you want to be sure that you know your audience for each platform and personalize your content for that audience. The content you send out in your e-blast or post to LinkedIn will probably differ greatly from the content you share on your Instagram since Instagram relies heavily on images and videos and tends to have a younger audience.
As with all communications, it is always important to make sure that your message is clear, concise and free of grammatical errors.
