Washington Federal’s Paradise Valley Branch Seeks Community’s Support in Salvation Army Holiday Tree Project
(PHOENIX – Dec. 8, 2016) – Washington Federal’s Paradise Valley branch, which is located at 13648 N. Tatum Blvd., is partnering with the local Salvation Army on the organization’s long-standing and much-beloved “Angel Tree” project. Through the program, local businesses – like Washington Federal – erect holiday trees in their lobbies with tags from the Salvation Army, each representing a local child in need this holiday season.
“We are welcoming the entire community – whether a customer or not – to visit our branch Monday through Friday anytime from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. now through December 18 and choose a tag and child to support. Each tag includes a child’s gender, age range, clothing size and toy suggestions, which can be purchased and simply turned in to our office for donation to the Salvation Army before Christmas,” said Mark Rocklin, branch manager. “To sweeten the deal, quite literally, we’ll have cider and snacks out each day during the program’s duration to help maintain that excitement and encourage as many people as we can to stop in.”
Each of the children and families listed on the angel tags will receive the gifts in the care, custody and control of the Salvation Army’s local branch. Altogether, the Paradise Valley branch has set a goal to help at least 12 children through the program.
“Washington Federal believes that the relationships we have with our local communities are as important as those we share with our clients, stockholders and employees. We believe we have an obligation to operate in a responsible, sustainable manner which supports the health and vibrancy of the communities we serve,” said Rocklin. “In addition to the Holiday Angel Tree project, in fact, our bank is also currently accepting grant donation requests from area nonprofits in need through our Washington Federal Foundation program.”
The Foundation is currently accepting grant requests from local organizations like the Salvation Army across Arizona. “In just the past few years, we’ve been able to award more than $40,000 in grants across Arizona,” said Rocklin, with an eye to doing even more as the bank moves into 2017 – its Centennial anniversary year.
