W.J. Maloney Plumbing, Heating & Cooling Begins Work At Historic Monroe Hilton Garden Inn
W.J. Maloney Plumbing, Heating & Cooling has been selected as the plumbing contractor and has begun work on the total interior renovation of the historic 13-story Monroe Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Phoenix.
W.J. Maloney Plumbing, Heating & Cooling is installing all of the building’s plumbing including complete water and natural gas piping, replacing the storm water system, and replacing and adding new fixtures in both the common areas and 170 guest rooms.
The $40 million renovation will include the use of all historical finishes in the lobby and throughout the interior of the hotel, including a new bar on the 13th floor.
Ryan Cos. Serves as the general contractor on the project.
Originally completed in 1932, the landmark tower was long called the Professional Building and was home to Valley Bank & Trust. The building’s exterior was used in the opening scene of the 1960 movie Psycho, directed by Alfred Hitchcock.
“The exterior of the hotel will remain the same,” said Kathryn “Kitty” Maloney-Langmade, president of W.J. Maloney Plumbing, Heating & Cooling, “and the overall project will reflect the original character of the building.”
Maloney-Langmade said being trusted and selected for a project such as this reflects well on the company’s experience.
“Our work on all four phases of CityScape Phoenix, including the
design/build of the infrastructure for the 13-story addition to the Kimpton Hotel Palomar Phoenix, reflect well on our ability to handle large-scale, high-rise plumbing projects such as this,” Maloney-Langmade said.
W.J. Maloney Plumbing, Heating & Cooling is also the plumbing contractor on Hayden Ferry Lakeside in Tempe.
Among the company’s completed projects are: Sloan Park, the spring training home of the Chicago Cubs in Mesa, the Orthopedic and Spine Inpatient Surgical (OASIS) Hospital in Phoenix, the solar thermal project at the University of Arizona, the Sky Train Project at Sky Harbor International Airport and the Mariposa Land Port of Entry expansion near Nogales.
Having recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, W.J. Maloney Plumbing, Heating & Cooling has been a leading plumbing contractor in the greater metropolitan Phoenix area since 1964. Working with many of the state’s largest general contractors, the company has provided exemplary design-build plumbing, from tenant improvements to complex multi-story projects that include many of the most prominent buildings in the Valley.
