The Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health Consultation Department Presented Kitchell with Designation

The Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health (ADOSH) Consultation Department presented Kitchell as a “STAR Site” through the Construction Voluntary Protection Program “C-VPP” on May 15, 2015. A VPP ceremony was held where Kitchell was awarded the “STAR” designation and presented with the VPP plaque and flag.

During the ceremony, industry officials such as David Parker, chairman of the Industrial Commission of Arizona (ICA); Michael Sanders, commissioner at ICA; Bill Warren, director of ADOSH and Jessie Atencio, assistant director of ADOSH spoke on the significance of a VPP achievement and its importance to the state of Arizona.

“This VPP status is well-deserved since safety is so ingrained in Kitchell’s culture,” said Jessie Atencio, assistant director and consultation and training program manager for ADOSH. “It’s important for Arizona to have companies like Kitchell that can be trusted to exemplify effective safety and health management systems.”

Currently, 36 Arizona companies are VPP “Stars.” To qualify for VPP status, employers must submit an application to OSHA and undergo an onsite evaluation. VPP participants and sites earning the STAR Site designation are re-evaluated every three to five years.
