Southwest Behavioral & Health Services Supports Local Community with Pay It Forward Adopt-A-Street Garbage Pickup Effort

(PHOENIX – July 3, 2019) – Southwest Behavioral & Health Services (SB&H) held a Pay It Forward Adopt-a-Street Garbage Pickup event on Thursday, June 20th, where both staff and client volunteers joined the effort to clean up trash and debris on 7thStreet from Indian School Road to Thomas Road. “It’s important to support the amazing community where we work,” said Southwest Behavioral & Health Services CEO Steven Sheets. “I’d like to thank all of our amazing staff and clients who came out for this initiative to help us keep our community clean!

SB&H hosts a number of Pay It Forward events throughout the year including making care packages for those in need, packing food boxes, volunteering at animal shelters, picking up trash and cleaning playground equipment at local parks, and assisting at St. Vincent de Paul’s Urban Farm.

The Pay It Forward events give SB&H staff and the individuals we serve the opportunity to give back to the community. The garbage pickup on June 20th also served toward community service to enable SB&H to acquire two Adopt-a-Street road signs through City of Phoenix, to be placed on 7th Street at both Indian School and Thomas Roads.

The Adopt-a-Street program enables community organizations, private businesses and individuals to help maintain and beautify Phoenix streets. To participate in the Adopt-a-Street program, volunteers agree to adopt one-mile segments of a major or collector street and agree to remove trash/debris a minimum of four times per year for at least a two-year period.
