Southwest Behavioral & Health Services Provides School-Based Mental Health Services to Peach Springs Unified School District in Mohave County

(PHOENIX – Aug. 10, 2023) Southwest Behavioral & Health Services (SB&H), an innovative leader in behavioral health, is providing comprehensive school-based mental health services to students and their families within the Peach Springs Unified School District.

The partnership between SB&H and the Peach Springs Unified School District signifies a shared dedication to enhancing the overall well-being and academic success of students. By offering accessible and culturally sensitive mental health services within the school setting and in the community, both organizations aim to create a supportive environment that promotes emotional growth and fosters a sense of belonging for all students.

“School-based mental health services have proven to be highly effective in addressing various challenges students may face, ranging from academic stress to emotional difficulties,” says SB&H Program Director April Thornton. “We are thrilled to partner with the Peach Springs Unified School District to make a positive impact on the mental health and well-being of its students and staff. By bringing our expertise in school-based mental health services, we hope to empower students to achieve their full potential academically and emotionally.”

The partnership provides the district access to a team of qualified and licensed mental health professionals to provide a range of services, including individual counseling, group therapy and crisis intervention. Additionally, the program will focus on early intervention and prevention, seeking to identify and address potential mental health concerns before they escalate.

Southwest Behavioral & Health Services school-based programs include:

  • Individualized Assessment
  • Individualized Services Plan (ISP)
  • Individual and Family Counseling
  • Psychoeducational and Therapeutic Groups
  • Community Outreach
  • Resource Development and
  • Child and Family Team Process (an aspect of the Arizona Model for Children and Families)

Southwest Behavioral & Health Services school-based services are currently in 36 schools in Northern Arizona including 11 in Kingman, 12 in Bullhead City, 9 in Yavapai County and 4 in Payson.
