Sonoran Pueblo Contracting Names Scott Sheldon Chief Executive Officer

(Tucson, Ariz. – August 28, 2020) – Sonoran Pueblo Contracting, an enterprise of the Pascua Yaqui Development Corporation (PYDC), has named Scott Sheldon as its chief executive officer (CEO).  Sheldon joins the tribal enterprise from California, where he most recently worked for a general contractor.

As CEO, Sheldon will oversee the company’s more than 30 employees, tribal and non-tribal, including skilled tradesman and professional team members.

“I have been involved with construction management for nearly 20 years,” said Sheldon.  “I’m thrilled to be back in Tucson again.  Earlier in my career I was involved in a variety of projects for the Pascua Yaqui Tribe including the Sewailo Golf Course Clubhouse site work at Casino Del Sol.”

Sheldon is a certified professional estimator with experience in construction management, strategic planning, budgeting, pricing and data analysis.

Sonoran Pueblo is a licensed and bonded contractor and bids on projects throughout Southern Arizona, with the goal of doing work throughout out the Southwest region.

The Pascua Yaqui Tribal Council established the PYDC to provide additional economic development opportunities on the reservation.

“The Tribal Council saw tremendous value in starting a company like Sonoran Pueblo Contracting that would not only bring jobs to the Yaqui community but provide another economic enterprise for the tribe,” said Daune Cardenas, PYDC executive director.
