Restaurant Business Names Mr. Pickle’s Sandwich Shops Among “Future 50;” Locally Owned Business Earns No. 31 Spot
(SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Dec. 4, 2024) – The Valley’s own Mr. Pickle’s Sandwich Shop, which is headquartered in the Scottsdale Airpark and has locations across Scottsdale, Surprise, Chandler, Queen Creek, and Laveen, has been named among Restaurant Business’ “Future 50” for the first time in its 30-year history, earning the No. 31 spot nationwide. The Future 50 is a ranking of up-and-coming restaurant chains across the United States based on systemwide sales and responsible growth.
The honor comes on the heels of one of the brand’s biggest years in its history. Earlier in 2024, Mr. Pickle’s was named among the Top 100 Movers & Shakers in the United States by Fast Casual, earning the No. 66 spot, just as it expanded its footprint to Los Angeles, opening a location in Pasadena this past summer. The brand also has plans to expand further across Arizona in the next 12 months, notably with a location on Ahwatukee set to open in early 2025.
Since 1995, Mr. Pickle’s has been a premier sandwich shop specializing in innovative and craveworthy sandwiches and catering. In 2023, Mr. Pickle’s formally expanded to Arizona after restaurant veteran Mike Nelson purchased the brand, swiftly opening locations across Maricopa County and eyeing national expansion in the years to come. Over the past three years, Nelson has increased same-store sales by 62%. In 2023, Mr. Pickle’s Sandwich Shop added seven units, representing an annual increase of 13%. It also a major investment in its entire tech stack and worked through Paytronix dispatch platform. A substantial percentage of its 2023 growth came through this avenue, which provided a better value to customers and a more profitable transaction for franchisees vs. third-party delivery.
