REDW Advisors & CPAs Announces David A. Coates, CPA, PFS, as Principal in National Tax Services Practice
(SALEM, Ore. – Dec. 18, 2025) — REDW Advisors & CPAs is pleased to announce the appointment of David A. Coates to Principal in its national Tax Services practice. Coates is known for his collaborative leadership, mentorship, and ability to build lasting relationships. At REDW, he will bring valuable insight and steady guidance to his clients and colleagues and help experts reduce clients’ tax liability and use tax-efficient strategies to foster growth. He will also mentor new talent and work on business development. In his role, he will primarily serve high-net-worth individuals, family groups, construction companies, and other privately held businesses. Coates is based in Puget Sound and will be primarily based in the firm’s fast-growing Pacific Northwest office and serve each of REDW’s four offices nationwide as well as the firm’s remote and global workforce.
Coates brings more than three decades of experience in public accounting and wealth management to the role including as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner at Frost & Company, PLLC, where he directed firm operations and drove strategic growth. Most recently, he was a Tax Principal at a leading accounting and professional services firm specializing in real estate and complex tax planning. Coates earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from Washington State University and holds both a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license and Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) credential. He is also a member of the Construction Finance Management Association (CFMA). Within the community, the long-time Puget Sound leader has served in many civic and volunteer leadership roles, including serving on the Board of Directors for the Hands-on Children’s Museum, as Treasurer of the Sandberg Baseball Club, and as a Board Member and volunteer coach of the Capitol Little League.
