Jewish Family & Children’s Service Receives National Accreditation

(PHOENIX – March 27, 2019) – Jewish Family & Children’s Service (JFCS) has received a prestigious, national accreditation from the Council on Accreditation (COA), a New York-based accreditor of community-based behavioral health care and social service organizations.

JFCS received nine accreditations for the following services and programs: Prevention – Creating Peaceful Families, Shelter Without Walls domestic violence services, Homebased Services, Michael R. Zent Integrated Health Clinic, Glendale Behavioral Health Services, Mesa Behavioral Health Services, West Valley Behavioral Health Services, The Real World Job Development and Transition to Adulthood Program.

The COA accreditation measures an organization’s performance through an objective and independent evaluation of their services. To receive a COA Accreditation is a very involved and detailed process, including a review of an organization’s administration, management and services against industry-wide standards of best practice.

According to Lorrie Henderson, Ph.D., MBA, LCSW, president/CEO, recipients of the COA Accreditation are among an elite tier of organizations who have demonstrated accountability in the management of resources, set standardized best practice thresholds for service and administration and increased organizational capacity and accountability by creating a framework for ongoing quality improvement.

“We are honored to have earned the highest level of accreditation available,” says Henderson. “For more than 80 years, JFCS has supported thousands of children, teens and adults through trauma, family violence, mental illness and substance abuse, as well as other serious behavioral, physical and social obstacles. To receive the COA Accreditation recognizes our high standard of care and commitment to our community.”

An endorsement from COA is highly respected. JFCS is among 2,000 organizations throughout the United States and Canada who have received the accreditation since the COA’s founding in 1977.
