HMA Public Relations is Seeking an Account Coordinator
HMA Public Relations, a full-service public relations and marketing communications firm in Phoenix, is seeking an experienced, motivated and engaged Account Coordinator for an immediate opening. College degree in journalism, public relations, marketing, or communication degree required, as well as 1-2 years relevant experience. Submit resume and cover letter to Abbie S. SUMMARY
Coordinates, researches and executes portions of communication plans and programs, proactively and consistently works with account services team to define specific role in plan development and execution. Maintains “good will” contacts and builds productive agency/client relationships. Interacts directly with clients at the instruction of the account management team or for pre-determined, on-going purposes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assist principal client contact (typically senior account executive or account executive)
- Assist in the development of appropriate strategies to meet client needs
- Attend client meetings, when necessary
- Approach supervisor consistently with recommendations for addressing client requests/issues
- Assist in drafting collateral and media materials, including news releases, media advisories, photo captions, public service announcements, social media postings, etc.
- Develop and maintain media contact list (print, television and radio, blogger/influencer contacts)
- Read and track successful media placements of importance of client
- Reads and studies publications and information relating to each client’s business and operating environment; knows each client’s business well
- Assist in coordination of special events, possibly requiring weekend/night overtime
- Enhance and foster overall company culture and team moral/enthusiasm; keeps informed of changes and current trends within the communications industry; passes pertinent ideas and information on to team with implementation ideas.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Understanding of proactive media relations tactics and strategies
- Understanding of digital communications/social media tactics and strategies
- Sets priorities and manages time effectively concentrating on those activities that will deliver the best results and ensure that clients receive the highest quality of client service, while at the same time providing cost-effective support
- Keeps supervisor and other relevant team members updated on current status of assigned projects, including budgets and deadline progress when applicable
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) in journalism, public relations or related field from a four-year college or university; and one-two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Agency experience preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
LANGUAGE ABILITY
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write news releases, proposals, strategic plans, reports, and other business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL ABILITY
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (word, excel), WordPress (or comparable blogging software).
