Arizona Association of REALTORS® Honors 2021 Award Recipients at Annual Leadership Conference

(PHOENIX – Nov. 4, 2021) – The Arizona REALTORS® recently held its annual Leadership Conference where members of the association were awarded for their outstanding leadership, professional achievements and their contributions to the community.

Susan Nicolson of Sun Cactus & Pine Realty in Phoenix received the Tyler Strout Vision Award. This award recognizes a real estate practitioner who elevates the profile of REALTORS® in the community and exemplifies the association’s vision of the best prepared real estate practitioner with the highest standards.

Since starting her real estate career in 2002, Nicolson has served on the Arizona REALTORS® Professional & Business Development and Legislative & Political Affairs committees as well as the 2021 Arizona REALTORS® convention planning group. Nicolson is also a member of the Master of Real Estate Society (MRES) and remains an active volunteer at all levels of the REALTOR family, including Women’s Council of REALTORS® (WCR).

The Arizona REALTORS® presented its Arthur G. Crozier Distinguished Service Award to Paula Monthofer of Sun Cactus & Pine Realty in Phoenix. This award recognizes the Arizona REALTOR® who has given tireless and meaningful service to the Association and had a positive impact on members by providing service in one or more of the Association’s strategic focus areas.

Monthofer has held multiple leadership roles, previously serving as the Arizona REALTORS® president in 2017 and Northern Arizona Association of REALTORS® president in 2011. Monthofer has also served on numerous Arizona REALTORS® committees at both local and national levels including the Professional & Business Development Committee, Legislative Committee, and the Diversity & Inclusion Committee.

Every year, the Arizona REALTORS® leadership recognizes a REALTOR® and a REALTOR® Association or Multiple Listing Service (MLS) for making an extraordinary impact on their community through volunteer service. This year’s recipients of the Community Outreach Award are Kelly Courvisier of HomeSmart in Gilbert and The Northern Arizona Association of REALTORS®.

Since her then 9-year-old son, Cannon, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2019, Courvisier has become a passionate advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), dedicating countless hours to fundraising efforts and meeting with newly diagnosed families along with her son. Courvisier currently supports her son’s role as a youth brand ambassador for JDRF and goes out of her way to recognize community partners that have given financial support to the foundation.

The Northern Arizona Association of REALTORS® received the Community Outreach Award for their volunteer efforts at the Flagstaff Family Food Center. For the past five years, the Northern Arizona Association of REALTORS® members have volunteered monthly to help prepare and serve dinners and clean up the kitchen after dinner service. In addition, the REALTORS® also took part in a fundraiser earlier this year to help the center purchase a new refrigerated food truck.

When Flagstaff faced record flooding in 2021, Northern Arizona REALTORS® came together to help the community by cleaning debris, filling sandbags and donating $5,000 to the Arizona Community Foundation.
