Advance Community’s I Choose Wellness Program Receives $5,000 Grant from Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation
(PHOENIX–Nov. 25, 2024) Advance Community (Advance) has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Sprouts Health Communities Foundation to support its I Choose Wellness program. The donation is part of the foundation’s annual grants program. Grants are funded in part by donations collected from customers during the checkout process, where guests are given the opportunity to round up their purchase to support local children’s nutrition education programs.
The I Choose Wellness program, designed for youth in under-resourced communities in grades 3-8, offers age-appropriate lessons on nutrition, physical activity, and oral hygiene. These lessons are crafted to inspire youth to improve their health outcomes and to combat the risk of developing chronic illness. By emphasizing these key areas, the program seeks to instill lifelong healthy habits that contribute to a healthier future for the entire community. he planned programming includes 10 series of eight sessions each, conducted at Title 1 schools and community centers in under-resourced communities throughout the Valley.
“We deeply appreciate the generous support from the Sprouts Health Communities Foundation,” said Advance Community CEO Jeri Royce. “This funding enables us to broaden our health education efforts and provide vital resources to young people in our area. It empowers us to reach more families, fostering positive change in the lives of vulnerable youth by helping them adopt healthier behaviors and improving their overall well-being for both the present and the future.”
