ACCEL Students Donate Time and Resources to HALO Animal Rescue

Vocational students at ACCEL, a private, nonprofit school for children with special needs volunteered at HALO Animal Rescue on Thursday, May 7. While working volunteer activities such as taking dogs for walks, assisting in the office and providing care to the animal shelters, the students also donated more than 500 dog biscuits, dog blankets and dog bowels that they made at ACCEL.

ACCEL students have been volunteering at the HALO Animal Shelter every week during the school year for more than six years. It is another opportunity for students with a wide range of abilities and challenges including autism, intellectual, emotional, physical disabilities and health impairments have to learn vocational, behavioral, life skills. These skills are learned through both the school and the enterprises that it operates. The enterprise programs include ACCEL Adult Services, The BISTA Center and Gifted Hands Boutique.
