Arizona Association for Economic Development Awards Economic Development Awards at Annual Legislative Lunch on the Lawn

(PHOENIX – Mar 25, 2022) – At its annual Legislative Lunch on the Lawn, held at the Arizona State Capitol, the Arizona Association for Economic Development (AAED) honored three legislators for their commitment and support of economic development throughout the state.

Since 2014, AAED has honored legislators with its Economic Development Champion Award, recognizing elected officials who have championed bills and causes that are important to the growth of the economy in Arizona.

This year’s honorees were Rep. Michelle Udall (R-Mesa), Rep. Cesar Chavez (D-Phoenix) and Sen. Tyler Pace (R-Mesa).

Udall sponsored several bills addressing improvements in education and workforce development ranging from adult education and STEM appropriations to reforms for workforce development accounts at community colleges.  She has had the future workforce as the priority for her legislative service.

Chavez has consistently been a core supporter of workforce initiatives, especially those related to Excel Center legislation for Adult High School Education & Workforce Credentials. He consistently has shown support for many workforce initiatives championed by AAED.

Pace serves as chair of the Senate Transportation and Technology Committee. Throughout recent years, he has placed a high emphasis on improving educational opportunity for all students, improving economic growth and quality job creation. Pace has also championed a number of transportation projects which align with AAED’s Policy Priorities.

The mission of AAED is to serve as Arizona’s unified voice advocating for responsible economic development through professional education, public policy, and collaboration.  AAED is comprised of over 500 members representing municipalities, counties, and regions from all parts of the state along with private sector partners and utility partners.
