#MediaMonday – Marty Manning
Happy 30th Anniversary Marty Manning!
On Tuesday, April 14 I was driving into work flipping through the stations, and I just so happened to stop on Beth and Friends on KEZ 99.9. It just so happened that Marty Manning was on the show discussing his 30th Anniversary with the station (which also happened to include the wonderful story of how he met this wife and the show he was able to do with his sons – and if you didn’t hear it I will let him tell you about it as I am sure he will do a much better job).
It also just so happened that I had a radio interview scheduled with Marty for that very day with one of our clients, The Arizona Commission for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing, to discuss Better Hearing and Speech Month in May. And… while we were there it just so happened that multiple people were congratulating Marty on his 30 years with the station.
Was all this happenstance?
I think not!
Everything happens for a reason!
We featured Marty in 2011 as part of our #MediaMonday, but I am so honored to feature him again today as he celebrates 30 years with KEZ!
So, Marty, time to share!
What do you want to tell the blogosphere about yourself today?
I’m still here! This week I celebrated 30 years working at 99.9, originally as KLZI and since 1988 as 99.9 KEZ. I had been working for the previous 12 years at stations in Texas, California, and Cincinnati and decided to head home and let the kids grow up with their cousins (lots of those here!).
Over those 30 years I’ve had the opportunity to do lots of things at the radio station, including watching it grow! We were just one station in 1985 and now we are part of iHeartMedia, with over 800 stations and iHeart Radio! For years I broadcast live from locations all over the Valley, thousands of them! And now I spend most days in the station and since last July I have been hosting our Valley Views public affairs programs which airs weekly on seven of our iHeartMedia Phoenix stations. I love this opportunity to share the stories of the many non-profit organizations that work so hard to improve the quality of life here in the Valley. I urge anyone representing a 501c3 non-profit to contact me and let us help tell your story! I can be reached at Martymanning@iheartmedia.com.
