Today’s #MediaMonday comes to us from Katarina Kovacevic, who many of our readers know from her years as a killer PR practitioner. Today, she is a freelance writer (check out her portfolio!) and founder of the upcoming RUBY Magazine.
So, Katarina, time to share!
What do you want to tell the blogosphere about yourself today?
After nearly three years of brainstorming and planning, I’m really excited to see the RUBY Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign come to life!
We’re raising startup funds for RUBY, which is going to be a new kind of women’s publication. The online magazine will promote female camaraderie, support sisterhood and inspire women to make a difference in the world.
Through skillful reporting and creative storytelling, with careful attention to word choice, RUBY will create an inclusive and supportive environment with one goal in mind: To lay the foundation for future generations of confident, motivated and inspirational women who make it a point to champion their fellow female.
I’d like to keep some element of surprise to the exact editorial lineup, but what I can tell you is that we’ll be covering world and news events that are important to women. RUBY will profile those who are coming together to do big, bold things.
You’ll find honest advice and commentary on female friendships, ideas on how to nurture the relationship with yourself, and story packages that inspire a sense of adventure in travel and everyday life. These are just a few examples.
I also want RUBY to be a platform for talented journalists and narrators. So, I’ll be looking to hire freelance reporters who know how to spot, research and write truly dynamic and engaging stories. It’s digital media, so there will also be opportunities for photographers and videographers.
As I type this, we’re only four days into our Kickstarter campaign and we’ve raised more than 20 percent of our $15,000 goal. Kickstarter is an all-or-nothing platform, so support and pledges are really important to the entrepreneurs and creators that you find on the site.
If you like the sound of RUBY and its mission, then please take a moment to check out the Kickstarter – spread the word and maybe even make a pledge. Every little bit counts!
