#MediaMonday – Justine Richardson
Each Monday, we are posting a blog to help our readers get to know the media just a little bit better.
With a TWIST!
No, we aren’t posting story pitch tips or media lists, but instead great stories from the media themselves about their lives, their work and other little known facts! Think of it as your first “networking” opportunity of the week!
Today’s #MediaMonday comes to us from Justine Richardson in Hollywood!
So, Justine, time to share!
What do you want to tell the blogosphere about yourself today?
My name is Justine Richardson (Brittany’s cousin!); I just graduated from the Walter Cronkite School at ASU in May. I am now working for Reveille Studios in Hollywood; on the new TV show Live To Dance. The show premieres on January 4th on CBS, starring Paula Abdul. This is my first real job since graduation and its both been what I expected and more challenging as a job. I usually work between 12-15 hours per day, depending on what is on the agenda for the day. My official job title is Production Assistant, but I do various tasks that involve and further the production of our show.
I went to school for broadcast journalism but realized that I wanted to work more behind the scenes of a television show. The opportunity that was presented to me was unbelievable and all the people I work with are amazing. I went on several job interviews before landing the one I’m currently at. I eventually see myself working as a senior producer in Los Angeles for a network television show, most likely reality. I enjoy watching and working for reality TV.
My advice to recent and future graduates who want to work in the television industry is to set goals for yourself. Try to create a timeline of goals you want to accomplish by a certain date or age, this will make you more motivated to look for jobs and work hard in the jobs you’re in.
