The weeklong event gives baseball lovers of all ages and skills the opportunity to “play in the bigs.” Coaches for this year’s camp included Luis Gonzalez, Alex Cintron, Mark Grace, Stephen Randolph, Matt Williams, Willie Bloomquist, Mike Morgan, Robbie Hammock, Greg Swindell, Orlando Hudson, Augie Ojeda, Mike Fetters and Dan Carlson.
The Member Makes a Difference Award is presented annually at the closing banquet by the Camper Fund, which coordinates directly with the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation to raise money to provide baseball activities for kids and to provide funds for other youth baseball and softball initiatives. Camper contributions have paid for kids to attend D-Backs Baseball Academy camps/clinics, funded needed equipment for local school baseball programs and funded youth exchange programs.
The Camper Fund has raised approximately $350,000 since its inception in 2009.
