Ak-Chin Indian Community’s Vekol Market Grand Re-Opening

The Ak-Chin Indian Community’s Vekol Market is celebrating its re-opening on June 12 at 9 a.m. Vekol Market now offers fuel, making it a convenient one-stop shop for all customers. The renovation also includes an expanded café and menu, which includes a full service breakfast, lunch and dinner menu. After being rebuilt from the ground up in April 2012, the new 6,000 square-foot Vekol Market replaced the 34-year-old commissary on the Ak-Chin Indian Community.

“The market has been quite a success for our Community,” said Ak-Chin Tribal Chairman Louis J. Manuel, Jr. “With the market offering more services, and options, this will continue to be a highlight of our community.”

The fresh market includes a deli with sandwiches made daily, a wide selection of groceries, a café area with a TV and Wi-Fi access, a patio with outside seating, in addition to offering culturally indigenous foods.  .

Inside the market, executive chef Mark Alcala prepares fresh salads and home-made options that change based on what fresh ingredients are available.
