#MediaMonday – Sludge

Each Monday, we are posting a blog to help our readers get to know the media just a little bit better.
With a TWIST!
No, we aren’t posting story pitch tips or media lists, but instead great stories from the media themselves about their lives, their work and other little known facts! Think of it as your first “networking” opportunity of the week!
Today’s #MediaMonday comes to us from “Sludge,” morning host on 93.3 KDKB!
So, Sludge, time to share!
What do you want to tell the blogosphere about yourself today?
Hello!  Yes, I have a funny name…Sludge…hopefully it’s memorable.  I host mornings on 93.3 KDKB, weekdays from 5:30 – 10a.m.  I’m pretty high energy and here to help you wake up, so I hope you’ll give us a listen, which you can also do at KDKB.com.  I’ve lived in the Valley for a little over a year, originally from the Midwest, growing up in Ohio and Chicago, so these winters are niiiiiiiiiice!
I like to think of my radio show, “Sludge Nation,” as a one-stop shop for your morning.  We play some great rock music, new and classic, give you important info you need to know, like local news and traffic, and mostly, we try to make you laugh!  We take a lot of calls with our “topics of the day,” and give you amazing free stuff, too.  I feel we are truly a community living together on the air.  I feel your pain as you are trying to get to work!   We have compelling guests, too.
Personally, I love to get out and meet people.  Sporting events, like the Suns, Coyotes, Cardinals, and Diamondbacks, are where you’ll find me, as well as at bars and restaurants from Gilbert to Scottsdale to Glendale!  I enjoy playing sports too, mostly basketball, and even boxing, but lately, my sport has been EATING….too much…
I also play guitar in a band that I built with my listeners, through a competition process.   We are called Sludge’s Build A Band!  We’ve played all over the Valley, and are pretty much a fun, party cover band!  We’re even sponsored by Bud Light, and we’ve opened for national acts like Kenny Wayne Shepherd and The Tubes!  All our dates are at KDKB .com.
I really think I help people every morning by helping them get through their tough day.   I also help in the charitable fashion, with several different “Sludge” charities.  I’m always open to new ideas, so even though I have 1,543 unanswered emails right now (D’oh), I DO get back to everyone, so feel free to reach out!  Sludge@kdkb.com or friend me at www.facebook.com/sludgenation.    Have an awesome week!
