#MediaMonday – Kristy Beyer Durkin

Kristy DurkinThe only thing I love more than meeting people over a good meal is actually meeting people over a good meal. Like, for the first time.
This was how I met Kristy Beyer Durkin, co-founder of WhereShouldWeEat.com. I know, fitting.
As I sat – probably talking loudly to whomever would listen to my rant of the moment (Kirti, Joanie, Cynthia, Tiffanie, Shelby – thinking you were the lucky ones that night) – at Bink’s Midtown during the spring Arizona Restaurant Week media dinner, I noticed a new face.
Enter Kristy!
By the time we made it to the end of the evening, Kristy and her site had a new fan in me. So much so, in fact, they are now among my go-to event sites for ticket giveaways and previews.
So, Kristy, time to share!
What do you want to tell the blogosphere about yourself today?
I’ve been a resident of the Valley for more than 25 years, and received my Bachelor of Science degree at Arizona State University. Watching Phoenix change and grow has only benefited my love of dining out.
Travel has also been a big part of my life, which has introduced me to many exotic cuisines from all over the world, and I proudly live by the motto “I’ll try anything once, even questionable delicacies.”
My long-time friend Rob Wiltuck and I (both self-proclaimed foodies), were constantly looking for websites to help us find places to eat, restaurant information and most importantly, locally owned establishments in the Phoenix metro area. Frustrated, we decided to take matters into our own hands, and over dinner one night (at Beckett’s Table – Justin Beckett rocks) the idea of WhereShouldWeEat.com was born.
WhereShouldWeEat.com is a negative-free restaurant information site that focuses on locally owned restaurants in the Phoenix area. Our goal is to bring together diners with the restaurants that can satisfy their craving in a clear, simple, and user-focused manner. In addition to the advanced search features the site also incorporates a calendar section showcasing upcoming eating and drinking events in the Valley, “He Said/She Said” experiences, and a Homepage Slider that highlights different foodie topics.
If you are unfamiliar with the site please check it out!
