#MediaMonday – Jennifer Solomon

Jennifer SolomonI was pleasantly surprised a couple of weeks ago when I found out about North Phoenix Family Magazine, which launched in October 2013. Since I am a mother, I live in North Phoenix and I love to read about things to do with my son, this magazine is a great fit!
After talking with Jennifer Solomon, the editorial director, I knew she would be a great addition to our Media Monday.
Jennifer is also a mom who lives in North Phoenix, has two kids, manages her own public relations and marketing business, and loves learning about mom and dad entrepreneurs.
Prior to starting the magazine, Jennifer was the communications director for the Anthem Community Council, Inc., overseeing the department’s communications and marketing and publishing Anthem’s community magazine Freedom Way.
Jennifer has her bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and her master’s degree from California State University, Fullerton in mass communications with an emphasis in public relations.
Jennifer- What do you want to tell the blogosphere about yourself today?
First and foremost, I’m a mom of two kids, ages 6 and 7, manage my own public relations and marketing business, and North Phoenix Family magazine. With more than 13 years of experience in marketing, public relations, and event management, I launched Inspire PR & Marketing, a boutique public relations and marketing business, in August 2012.
Prior to establishing Inspire PR & Marketing, I served as communications director for the Anthem Community Council, Inc., a non-profit government organization overseeing the community of Anthem.  In this role, I was responsible for overseeing the department’s communications and marketing initiatives, programs, campaigns, and services. In addition, I served as publisher and contributing writer for Freedom Way, Anthem’s community magazine.
After spending time with other moms and always having to rely on Google for finding family options in the North Valley, the idea of having a local resource for parents to go to is how North Phoenix Family magazine began. North Phoenix Family is an online community resource for families in the North Valley with articles on parenting, education, health and wellness, having fun, and everything else in between. It’s a place for moms, dads, grandparents, aunts and uncles — anyone with a child in their life — to find out what’s going on in regard to kids and family life.
North Phoenix Family features a monthly calendar of events and activities, inspiring stories of mom and dad-entrepreneurs, expert opinions, important product recalls, categorized resources of information, we cover a little bit of everything on parent’s minds. We also make it easy to find local resources such as calendar of events, family dining, party planning, education, camps, kid’s activities, and shopping and services. Our mission is to provide useful, timely information to our readers that will assist them in improving their family’s lifestyle.
All of our contributing writers are moms either with kids still at home or grown children with kids of their own. We enjoy discovering people’s life stories and accomplishments, connecting with other moms and dads, and offering families in the North Valley a simple resource for all their parenting needs.
I encourage people to send news releases, event submissions, and article ideas, preferably articles which can be localized to the North Phoenix area, but will consider topics that relate to families in general. I look for pieces covering issues concerning today’s parents, local family excursions, crafts, family fun, mom- dad- or kid-entrepreneurs, education and health and fitness. I can be contacted via email at editorial@northphoenixfamily.com or 623-203-3963.
