#MediaMonday- Erin Davis

[inlinetweet prefix=”” tweeter=”” suffix=”@ErinWriting”]Today’s #MediaMonday comes to us from Erin Davis, AZRE Magazine’s associate editor.[/inlinetweet] After one coffee meeting with Erin, I knew she has a lot to bring to this world with her ability to make you feel like you’ve been friends for years, after only five minutes.

So Erin, time to share!

What do you want to tell the blogosphere about yourself today?

We’d better get it out of the way now…I have a slight obsession with Star Wars. Sadly, my AZ Big Media coworkers (of only two weeks) are already well aware of this (ad nauseam). It can’t be helped. Ever since I was introduced to a world of Wookies, droids, and Jedi I was hooked.

I’ve been using my Star-Wars inspired imagination ever since I could hold a pen. Raised on George Lucas, Dr. Seuss, James Marshall and the “Choose Your Own” adventure books, my muse appeared early and has remained a constant companion. In fact, I was already pitching stories to James Marshall at age eight for his “George and Martha” series (I still have the kind rejection letter he sent back).

After acquiring a B.A. in English with an emphasis in writing, I embarked on a freelance writing career that has crossed several genres and subjects—from entertaining articles for Tribune Content Agency to copywriting about temporary bridges and cherry orchards, to my first EVER published children’s book “Stick To It Chick” (April, 2015), and most recently earning the associate editor position with AZRE magazine. Akin to my love of wordsmithing, I’m equally passionate and dedicated to advocating early literacy in writing. There’s nothing greater than seeing the light that appears in the eyes of a child when he shares a story from his own imagination!

If I’m not writing (which is rare), I’m either drinking lots of coffee, doing yoga (if that isn’t ever an oxymoron), chasing my 7-year-old twins or their older sister, hanging with the hubs, painting or illustrating another children’s book, watching the Ken Burns Civil War documentary or Sherlock Holmes or Star Wars (duh!) or, if it’s 8 p.m.—sleeping.

If I’m not doing any of the things listed above, then I’m learning more about my new colleagues in commercial real estate and in the media. If you’ve been enticed by anything you’ve read here, or even if you haven’t, I’d love for you to visit me at any of these places:
