The Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health Consultation Department Presents Ryan Companies with SHARP Designation

(PHOENIX – Nov. 23, 2015) – On Friday, Nov. 6, the Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health (ADOSH) Consultation Department presented Ryan Companies with its Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) award in recognition of its exemplary safety and health management systems. The company joins 28 other companies in the state of Arizona and is only one of two construction worksites in the state of Arizona with this distinction.

ADOSH held a SHARP ceremony, where Ryan Companies was recognized for its commitment to safety and health in honor of this designation. During the ceremony, Dale Schultz, chairman of the Industrial Commission of Arizona and Jessie Atencio, assistant director and consultation and training program manager at ADOSH spoke on the significance of a SHARP achievement and its importance to the State of Arizona.

“SHARP is a voluntary consultation program that awards business organizations for going above and beyond regulated safety and health standards,” said Jessie Atencio, assistant director and consultation and training program manager. “At ADOSH, we believe that an employer who provides a workplace with high safety standards deserves to be recognized.”

To qualify for the SHARP award, ADOSH evaluates the business’ overall workplace safety and health efforts, including written programs, injury and illness rates and how integrated safety programs are with the day-to-day work environment. ADOSH conducts a full onsite workplace inspection including extensive employee interviews.
