Quarles & Brady Honored with Arizona State Bar’s Bankruptcy Section Distinguished Pro Bono Service Award

(PHOENIX- Dec. 9, 2015) – The law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP today announced its Phoenix and Tucson offices have been honored with the Arizona State Bar’s Bankruptcy Section Distinguished Pro Bono Service Award. In celebration of national Pro Bono Week, the bankruptcy section of the Arizona State Bar gives out awards to individuals or groups that are active in bankruptcy pro bono service in the community.

Because of Quarles & Brady’s dedication and commitment to providing pro bono bankruptcy services to the community, the Phoenix and Tucson offices are the first law firm recipients of this award. Attorneys Lori Winkelman, Amelia Valenzuela and Jason Curry are members of the Phoenix office’s Restructuring, Bankruptcy & Creditor’s Rights Group honored with this award. These attorneys worked together on the first pro bono panel case to go to trial. They have also been proactive in making pro bono work an important part of mentoring younger attorneys.

Elizabeth Fella and Bradley Terry accepted this award on behalf of the Tucson office’s Restructuring, Bankruptcy & Creditor’s Rights Group. As a regular volunteer at the local self-help center, Fella has taken three pro bono panel cases, each obtaining a favorable settlement for the low-income individual represented. She is always eager to help clients in need and believes strongly in providing pro bono clients the same high-quality work as she provides for traditional clients. As part of the Tucson office’s commitment to pro bono work, Terry provides self-help services for Spanish speaking debtors and creditors.

“Helping others is at the heart of Quarles & Brady and we are so proud of our team for continuously supporting those in our local communities who are in need of our services,” said Nicole Stanton, Phoenix managing partner. “Their work extends far beyond their expected workload and their dedication has become part of the fabric of our team.”
