National Indian Gaming Commission Approves Seven-Year Management Agreement Between the Ak-Chin Indian Community and Caesars Entertainment

Ak-Chin(Maricopa, Ariz. – January 17, 2018) – The National Indian Gaming Commission has approved a seven-year management agreement between the Ak-Chin Indian Community and Caesars Entertainment Corporation. Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino, a part of Caesars Entertainment (Nasdaq: CZR), has been the management company for the casino since it opened in 1994.

“Caesars Entertainment and Harrah’s have been wonderful partners for the Ak-Chin Indian Community over these past many years,” said Robert Miguel, chairman of the Ak-Chin Indian Community. “We are pleased that they will be continuing with us as our management partner.”

The National Indian Gaming Commission was created in 1988 with the passage of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA), which was enacted to support and promote tribal economic development, self-sufficiency, and strong tribal governments through the operation of gaming on tribal lands. IGRA provides a statutory basis for the federal regulation of Indian gaming and established the Commission to regulate and support tribal gaming as a means of generating revenue for tribal communities.

“It’s an exciting time to be a part of Harrah’s Ak-Chin.  We have extended our management agreement with a great partner, the Ak-Chin Indian Community, and the property is undergoing a transformational renovation and expansion,” said Robert Livingston, general manager of Harrah’s Ak-Chin.”

Harrah’s Ak-Chin is currently undergoing a multi-million dollar expansion that will include an additional 200 guest rooms bringing the total to more than 500, a spa, a conference center with increased ballroom space, additional restaurants and a multi-level parking structure.

Celebrating 23 years in Maricopa, Ariz., Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino is Arizona’s first and only tribal casino to have an international management partner.

In addition to its slot machines, video poker, video Keno, statewide progressives and live action poker and Black Jack, Harrah’s Ak-Chin boasts the only Bingo hall in the Caesars organization.  Casino guests can also enjoy live entertainment in The Lounge and a variety of dining options, including the Copper Cactus Grill, Oak and Fork, Agave’s Restaurant, The Range Steakhouse, The Buffet and Dunkin Donuts®.

Harrah’s Ak-Chin has been named a Most Admired Company by Arizona Business Magazine and BestCompaniesAZ, and Phoenix Business Journal has named the property one of the “Best Places to Work in the Valley” five times. Harrah’s Ak-Chin was also awarded a Volunteer Service Award from the Arizona Governor’s Commission on Service and Volunteerism.
