Families Giving Back Celebrates ‘Make a Difference Day’ with ‘Spooktacular’ Halloween Event at Phoenix Children’s Hospital

(PHOENIX – Nov. 1 2016) – Families Giving Back, a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring and helping families with kids of all ages volunteer together, joined forces with the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation to celebrate National Make a Difference Day. Approximately  275 family volunteers came together to assemble 500 Halloween craft project bags and activity packs, fill glue syringes, make posters for patients and decorate more than 250 pumpkins. The event took place on Saturday, October 22 with two shifts, 10-11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Rosenberg Children’s Medical Plaza, 1920 E. Cambridge Ave. in Phoenix.

“Halloween is meant to be a fun holiday for kids to celebrate, but for kids that have to spend it in the hospital, the holiday may turn out scarier,” said Alexandra Sklar, co-founder and board president of Families Giving Back. “Our hope with this event was to bring some excitement for a holiday spent in the hospital.”
