Dawn Valdivia of North Central Phoenix Recognized in Diverse Communities

The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP announced that Dawn C. Valdivia, Chairwoman of the firm’s Phoenix office Labor and Employment Group who is a North Central Phoenix resident , will participate in a forward-thinking program offered by the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD). Additionally, Valdivia has been recognized as a highly influential business leader in the Hispanic community by AZ Business Magazine.

Valdivia was chosen by Quarles & Brady to be a member of the 2013 class of Fellows, participating in a landmark program created by the LCLD to identify, train and advance the next generation of leaders in the legal profession. The program offers participants an extraordinarily rich year of relationship building, virtual and in-person training, peer-group projects and extensive contact with LCLD’s top leadership.

Valdivia was also selected as one of the “25 Most Influential Hispanic Business Leaders in Arizona” by AZ Business Magazine. Over the past year, the editorial team at AZ Big media compiled a list of more than 100 potential leaders to spotlight and selected 25 who they believe to have the biggest impact on Arizona’s business environment — past, present and future. All honorees will be featured in the March issue of AZ Business Magazine.

“It’s great to see Dawn rise to a position of real prominence in this area,” said John W. Daniels, Jr., chairman of Quarles & Brady LLP. “Our firm is passionate about diversity and inclusion, but individual partners like Dawn are the difference between a statement of principle and real action where it matters.”

Valdivia began her career as a trial attorney at the National Labor Relations Board. She has extensive experience advising clients on labor issues, and representing clients before the NLRB and in other labor matters, including union organizing campaigns, collective bargaining and labor arbitrations. She also regularly represents clients before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Department of Labor, Industrial Commission, Arizona Civil Rights Division and numerous other employment-related state agencies. Valdivia is also skilled in complex litigation matters, including trade secret and restrictive covenant litigation and wage and hour class action litigation in Arizona and California. She routinely advises clients regarding issues of workplace discrimination, employee discipline and termination, employer policies, reductions in force, and compliance with state and federal labor and employment laws.

Valdivia received her law degree from the University of Arizona James E. Rodgers College of Law and her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, with honors, from Arizona State University.
