ADOSH Hosts Regional Safety Summit in Tucson

WHAT:          The Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health (ADOSH) is hosting its 2013 Regional Safety Summit in Tucson.  The two-day event will feature two keynote speakers and one-hour classes continuing throughout the day.  In addition, there will be free OSHA 10-Hour Classes in both General Industry and Construction.  

Vendors will also be present with current innovations and to give instruction and demonstrations.  

Keynote speakers include:                        

Mark D. Norton, MAOM, RSP- Are “Sub-Cultures” Destroying Your Safety Culture?

·         Norton is a Speaker, Author, Consultant and Trainer with Norton Safety Services. His previous work includes positions with Central Arizona Project, Arizona Division of Occupational Safety & Health and the United States Coast Guard.

Chris Perez- “Preventing Violence in the Workplace”

·         Perez is a seasoned criminal investigator and adjunct professor. He instructs police personnel on appropriate methods for dealing with people with mental illness, focusing on safe strategies for citizens and police.  

Classes to be offered include:

Employer Rights & Responsibilities – OSHA Consultation Services; On-Line Resources for Safety Mgt; Emergency Action Planning and First Aid Kits- Requirements

Advanced Safety Management – Accident Investigation/Finding Root Causes; Learning From Fatalities; Creating a Powerful Safety Culture; Effective Employee Safety Training; GHS- Getting Ready for Change; Workplace Drug Testing = CYA and Workplace Violence Prevention

General Safety Classes– Electrical Safety; Arc Flash Awareness; Slip Trip and Fall Prevention; Fall Protection; Boiler Safety and Warehouse/ Material Handling

General Health Classes – Heat Stress Prevention; Scary Air- Rise of Valley Fever; Fatigue, Sleep and Safety; Back Injury Prevention; Burned at Work; AEDs and CPR in the Workplace and Preparing for Contagion and Catastrophe!
