Earlier this year, the Maricopa County YWCA honored me with its Philanthropy Woman of the Year award. I was thrilled to receive it. Want to know why? Because the nomination was organized by one of my colleagues at HMA Public Relations, Alison Bailin. She took the time to write up the nomination and got members of the community to support it.
The HMA team was present for the awards program, as were my parents and friends from Phoenix PRSA and Scottsdale Leadership. The other Women of the Year inductees were inspiring and their stories and commitment to our community are just some of the reasons why the Valley is such a great place to live and work.
Volunteerism has been part of my life since I was a little girl. My parents taught my sister and me to give back, whether that be time or treasure (money) to organizations and causes that we are passionate about. So that’s what we’ve always done and what we will continue to do.
The video helps explain it more. Why do you volunteer?
