Every generation has their “where were you when moment.” For my generation, it is the Challenger explosion and 9-11. Both days are very vivid in my mind, where I was, what I did that day and the days after.
On the 10th anniversary of 9-11, the HMA team had the opportunity to get to know Donna Bird. She’s from the Valley and lost her husband when the first tower was hit. Like many of the others personally impacted that day, Donna wrote a book. It talked about her husband, Gary, and what losing him meant to her and her family. I wrote about it at the time, you can view the post here.
The Arizona Republic has an article about Donna today. They’ve had one year every year since 2001. And I would guess they will for many years to come.
