Marissa Baker is a junior account coordinator at HMA Public Relations and has been a member of the team since July 2019. Her responsibilities include media relations, drafting media materials, social media management, digital communications and supporting HMA’s account executive team and varied clients.
Baker also serves as a contributing writer and supports the social media for The Arizona 100, a twice-monthly digital publication featuring 100-word stories about the people, events, activities and news shaping Arizona.
Prior to joining HMA, Baker served as a reporter for The Odyssey at Creighton University. She also gained industry knowledge through an internship working with the marketing and public relations team at Fontenelle Forest in Omaha, Neb. During her time at the forest, she learned more about working with nonprofits while gaining experience in event planning, media relations and digital communications.
Originally from Phoenix, Baker moved to the Midwest to study mass communication and graduated from Creighton University in 2018, earning her Bachelor of Arts in communication with an emphasis in journalism.
After spending her college years in the snow, Baker is glad to be back in the sunny desert where she plans to stay. On any given day you can find her at a local concert enjoying live music (she enjoys all genres but is most likely at a Doll Skin show listening to rock) or on a scenic hiking trail taking pictures of the clouds and cacti.
