How I define Public Relations:
Public Relations is helping people tell their story through many different avenues including media relations and digital communication.
Hat you most identify with:
The Working Mommy Hat – but since I don’t visually know what that would look like. The “hat” I wear (when I wear one) is a visor when I am playing tennis.
Do you want a “free” idea to take on Shark Tank? I can give you a new one at least once a month and I take no “ownership” except if you go for it (and make it) I want the services for free. From a gas truck that delivers gas to your home at night (so I never have to go to the gas station again) to sandals that will help with “Arizona” feet (don’t know what Arizona feet are? Just ask me). These are just a couple of my “grand” ideas!
I am a senior account executive at HMA Public Relations and my responsibilities include client management, strategic media relations, digital communications, business development, crisis communications, online content management, promotional marketing, event planning and creative writing. In addition, I currently teach marketing, communications, social media at Arizona State University and Grand Canyon University. I am also listed as one of the Top 100 marketing professors on Twitter from around the world.
I am an active member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and excited be the president-elect for the PRSA Phoenix Chapter. I also currently serve on the board of directors for the USTA Central Arizona as the director of marketing and fundraising; the board of directors for the Anne Rita Monahan Foundation for Ovarian Cancer and Families Giving Back. I have also served on the board of directors for Scottsdale Leadership and AD2Phoenix; the Scottsdale Community College music advisory board; the Scottsdale Unified School District Capital Override Oversight Committee; the marketing committee of Girls on the Run of Maricopa County. In addition the DC Ranch Scottsdale Cycling Festival public relations committee; and the PRSA Phoenix Chapter’s 2014 PR Serving America Project with the O’Conner House, the 2015 Copper Anvil committee, the professional development committee and co-chair in 2016 and 2017.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Northeastern State University and a Masters of Business Administration in global management and leadership from Arizona State University. I am passionate about giving back and am a proud graduate of Scottsdale Leadership Class 23.
I am an Arizona native and Phoenix resident and I enjoy spending time with my son Aiden (just friend me on Facebook to stay up to date with Aiden & Co.), tennis, traveling reading and social media (Can you guess what my favorite social media platform is?).
Have a great day!
