Congratulations are in order for our client, the Arizona Affiliate of the Partnership for a Drug-Free America, who qualified as a finalist in the "Nonprofit Team" category of Arizona Business Magazine's first ever Non-Profit & Corporate Responsibility Awards.
The Partnership was nominated for its 3Moms program, which originally consisted of three Valley women whose families were affected by their children's drug use. The group encourages those who hear their message to share what they've learned with at least three other moms (or dads, grandparents, caregivers, etc.).
Accepting the award was Jeanne Dugan, one of the original 3Moms, and Shelly Mowrey, director of programs and communications for the Partnership.
Out of 150 entries, there were 35 finalists or honorees in 12 categories. The awards give recognition to the dedicated and hard-working nonprofit organizations of Arizona, as well as the equally important efforts of the corporations supporting these nonprofits.
I attended the awards banquet and I must say - in a time where much of the news we hear is negative, this was truly an inspiring event. Though they get funding, many nonprofits rely on volunteers (as well as their committed employees) to function. The night was truly a celebration of all individuals involved to keep these organizations running.
