#MediaMonday – Meet Brad Cesmat

Today’s #MediaMonday comes to us from “The Big Guy” on sports, Brad Cesmat.
Brad’s new show, Pros2Preps is heard Monday through Friday on Pros2Preps.com and XTRA Sports 910 from noon to 2 p.m. prior to Bickley and MJ. In addition his daily radio show is heard on 12 radio stations across the state on the Skyview Network.
He left Channel 3 after nine years to open a digital sports media company. The radio show is just a part of what Brad is building. His 10 years of radio experience at KTAR, along with his years at KTVK, have entrenched him in the Valley as one of the top sports personalities in Arizona.
The Pros2Preps.com website features blogs written by Brad, Coach Jim Ewan, recruiting analyst Jason Jewell and media maven Natalie Rivers.
Interviews from Brad’s daily show, as well as video stories shot in HD that Brad oversees, are also on the website.
He covers exactly what the program’s name indicates:  sports, athletes and issues ranging from the pros to the preps…
So, Big Guy, time to share!

What do you want to tell the blogosphere about yourself today?
Overseeing a sports media company with a focus on digitally based content is a thrill!!!

When I took my leap of faith last June by leaving 3TV, I didn’t have a complete focus on what I wanted to do.  I knew that I was pushing my family to the margins in an environment that wasn’t conducive to growth, so I had to pull the ripcord and move out of local TV sports. It was the BEST decision I ever made.

Sports is recession proof….sports changes hour by hour…..there are great stories waiting to be told from the pros2preps….pretty simple…

The trick is having the resources (cameras) to get those stories.  In TV in 2003, I had three cameras and three producers at my disposal. When I left in June I had one camera dedicated to sports in a city with four major teams, college, and high school.  It’s hard to go into a sword fight with a piece of spaghetti.

I’ve been back on the radio for five weeks now and my guest list has been pretty eclectic:
actor Hugh Jackman, hall of fame boxer Sugar Ray Leonard, Charles Barkley, Kurt Warner, and many, many more…

While sports is “what I do,” it’s not “who I am.” I am married with four kids ranging from 21 to 7.  I coach youth soccer, attend most of my kids functions, work at being a good husband, am involved in the community in a number of forms — the18th year of the BIG GUY TURKEY DRIVE is coming up!!

I am on Facebook, the show has a Facebook fan page and I am on twitter.
