#MediaMonday – Jeff Scott

Testing.
Testing.
Can you hear us?
Well if not, then read today’s #MediaMonday out loud. After all, it comes to us from the world of radio.
Who are we talking about?
Jeff Scott from Arizona News Radio and California Headline News!
New to HMA Time?
Each Monday, we are posting a blog to help our readers get to know the media just a little bit better.
With a TWIST!
No, we aren’t posting story pitch tips or media lists, but instead great stories from the media themselves about their lives, their work and other little known facts! Think of it as your first “networking” opportunity of the week!
So, Jeff, time to share!
What do you want to tell the blogosphere about yourself today?
I’m a helpless news junkie! For nearly 30 years now, I’ve been spending my days covering the news here in Arizona… For 12 years, that happened at KTAR Radio. After five years in the newsroom of Fox-10, it was on to Skyview Networks, anchoring and managing our Arizona and California News Radio Networks (so if you’re driving around Southern California, you can hear me anchoring California news, live from Scottsdale!!!).
While the Skyview audience is much different than the KTAR audience, we have a loyal band of listeners and affiliates around the state (32 stations at present), and it’s been quite a thrill to see this company grow from small to medium to (pretty…)big—and getting bigger.
Though I’m news-guy by day, I’ve been able to feed my sports addiction by night—as public address announcer for the Phoenix Suns, ASU Sun Devils (football and men’s basketball), Arizona Rattlers, and the White Sox and Dodgers Cactus League games. Lots of fun… If it paid better, I’d cut back on the day job. It doesn’t, so I won’t. It does add up (beer and gas money…), and my two kids annually award me the “cool Dad” award for getting to sit courtside and fist-bump Steve Nash before each home game.
Love the local teams…but growing up in New York left me a hopeless fan of the Mets, Knicks, Giants and Rangers. It’s a birth defect.
Very proud of the way our state has reacted in the wake of the tragic shootings in Tucson. From the darkness, many acts of kindness, caring, and overall goodness during some of our state’s toughest days.
