#MediaMonday – Cynthia Sassi

Happy Monday! To kick off each week, we profile a member of the media to help our readers get to know him or her a little better – but with a TWIST!

Rather than talk beats and story bites, we ask our spotlights to share little known facts and tidbits you won’t find anywhere else! Think of it as your first “networking” opportunity of the week!

This week’s Media Monday comes from owner and founder of FabulousArizona.com and recently named one of the “Valley’s Most Eligible Phoenicians” (gentlemen!) by Arizona Foothills Magazine, Cynthia Sassi.

Take it away, Cynthia!

Although I was not born in Arizona, I went to high school here, which makes me feel like I am a native compared to most. I’ve always been a busy bee, participating in marching band, leading the cheer squad and running the newspaper at my high school while working as a shift manager at Dairy Queen… oh, and I took classes somewhere in there, too. LOL.

After high school I went to Arizona State (Go Devils!). I debated between a psychology major and business management degree and finally settled on marketing. The business aspect of marketing along with the psychology aspect of consumer behavior made a marketing degree seem like a good compromise between the two. An internship my senior year helped me find my passion for Internet marketing and thus set my career path in the online publishing world.

My passion for producing beautiful online content that is useful to readers and beneficial to local business owners led me to create FabulousArizona.com. It has become a great place for me to connect Valley residents with the best local businesses and events.

In addition to working hard, I’ve recently become an avid runner. I ran my first half marathon in November 2011 and quickly became obsessed, running a total of 9 half marathons in 2012. Just recently, I ran my first full marathon on Jan. 20, 2013 here in Phoenix! Running has become a wonderful outlet for stress, giving me a rare moment to be alone with my thoughts, away from emails, phone calls and social media.

One of my favorite quotes, which I feel is applicable to all aspects of life, is: “If you work really hard and are kind, amazing things will happen.” I have lived by this from a very young age – always working hard and being nice to people, believing it would come back to me some day. I feel so blessed for all of the wonderful opportunities I have had and for the amazing people in my life, making me feel like my hard work and kindness is paying off.
