The Valley of the Sun chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists will hold its annual Freedom of Information awards dinner this week.
It's a time when journalists are recognized for their work in protecting our First Amendment rights and access to public records.
As part of the media training that we offer to clients, we emphasize that the media sees itself, in many cases, as "the watchdog for society."
This is a great example of that, as journalists and others dedicated to the freedom of information through public records, open meetings and inspiring careers are honored by their peers.
I'll be there.
