Lessons Learned in 15.534 Miles - 5K Medals (Photo credit: Abbie Fink of HMA Public Relations)
I set a goal at the beginning of the year to complete five 5K events. I am definitely not a runner, but I have been logging about two-to-three intentional miles a day over the past 18 months or so and decided I could certainly make a go at an organized event. If I could finish the race in under an hour, I’d consider it a success.
Last night I completed the fifth of the five 5Ks. All five were done in under an hour. I have accomplished my goal.
But as with lots of things, I learned a few things as a result of logging 15.534 miles:
- Whether you get there in record-time or it takes a little longer than expected, get out there and do it.
- A couple “way to go’s” and “you can do it’s” may be just what you might need to go the extra mile.
- You may start out with the pack, but making your own decisions will carry you to the finish line.
- Find the one that works best for you and keep at it. And who knows what awards are waiting for you.
