Twitter heartI Literally HEART Twitter

Earlier this week, Shelby asked us if we noticed the new “heart” on Twitter. Since, as most of you know (or perhaps could tell from my multiple blogs on the subject-  Twitter tip #1,  Tip #2 and #3 and Tip #4.), Twitter is my favorite digital communications tool, so I had to look right away. Sure enough the star on my Twitter feed had been replaced by a heart.

At first, I thought this wasn’t much of a big deal, changing out a star for a heart. But the more I thought about it… perhaps it is a bigger deal then I originally thought.

The star said a post was something you liked or it was a favorite. But, the heart, on the other hand, is about loving something. There is a big difference in something that I LIKE and something that I LOVE.

For example, I might like this Tweet by Serena Williams:

But I LOVE this Tweet from Carrie Watters at the Arizona Republic that features my son:

Maybe I am over thinking the subject. I just find these small changes with social media interesting (ie my blog post in September about Facebook’s dislike button).

What I really want to know is what do you think… do you LOVE the new change?
